Crafting the phantom of Al-Qaeda

Federal Interior Minister Mr. Rehman Malik has said that Pakistan, India and Afghanistan would fight ‘Al-Qaeda” together to eliminate the threat for good. But the question arises as to what Al-Qaeda is? Does it really exist, or is it just a myth?

Right from its alleged birth and inception to its clandestine and mysterious activities, mostly wrapped in terror and chaos, the existence of Al-Qaeda remains a mystery comprising a perplex, bizarre and inexplicable organizational dynamics.
The name Al-Qaeda was never used by even Osama Bin Laden with reference to this organization he allegedly led. Shuffling back the pages of history, one comes across similar jidahi organizations in 80s and 90s that cropped up under the banner of CIA in the United States. Working under different “Godfathers” like Abdullah Azzam, Khalid Jehani, Shiekh Omer Abder Rehman, Khalid Sheikh Muhammad, Aymen Alzawahiri, Zachariah Moussaoui and Mustafa Chalabi, these outfits comprised mujahideen belonging to Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Egypt, Yemen etc. The headquarters for training and strategic planning was based in Brooklyn (USA), and the numerous branches were working throughout the US in cities like Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Pittsburgh, and Connecticut etc.
Osama came from Saudi Arabia, and, under the umbrella of CIA, launched funding, training and indoctrination of refuges coming from Afghanistan as well as individuals belonging to Arab countries and Pakistan through his Maktab Al Khidamat (MAK) in Brooklyn, New York. He was assisted by Abdullah Azzam, a religious cleric with Palestinian origin.

This fact could be well understood by former US ambassador in Saudi CIA J. Michael Springmann, head of the non-immigrant visa section at the "CIA-dominated" US consulate in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in 1987-88, said he learned that the CIA had a "program to bring people to the United States for terrorist training, people recruited by the CIA and its asset Usama bin Laden, and the idea was to get them trained and send them back to Afghanistan to fight the then Soviets." "Their nationalities for the most part were Pakistani, Palestinian, Syrian, and Lebanese." These "recruits without backgrounds" were given visas over Springmann's protests.

Interestingly, Osama never called these isolated groups as Al-Qaeda. He supplied them with funds and provided necessary indoctrination, either himself or through Abdullah Azzam and Omer Sheikh.
That Osama is dead has been reported by a number of international sources with only difference on the cause of death. One such proof of his death has been provided by the fact that CIA closed its counterinsurgency unit known as Alec station designed to capture Bin Laden and his aides in July 2006, according to an article published in The New York Times by Mark Mazzetti.
The West in fact never accepted Islam as a way of life or as a revolutionary religion; instead, it divides Islam into political Islam and “secular Islam” i.e. Islam minus the concept of jihad and politics. Despite this, West used Islamists against Soviets in late 90s when they gave impression to Islamists that they were on their side and that they had accepted Islam as an ideology. People like Zbigniew Brzezinski gave the same impression to Islamists in Afghanistan late 70s, which marked the beginning of Soviet invasion in Afghanistan. In one of his addresses to Islamists, he said: "Your cause is right; God is on your side."
The military arsenal and oil cartels consisting of ziocons like Richard Pearl, Dick Cheney, Paul Wolfowitz, Donald Ramsfield etc., were all ambitious enough to play a role to promote their corporatism of oil and military hardware. And they were present throughout, right from Reagan’s era to George W. Bush in 2001 when they were successful in formulating a phantom enemy. It happened just the way they did it with Soviets. Despite their economy having been destroyed and their political system on the verge of collapse in late 80s, the Soviets were still demonized before the world as a monstrosity to install an enemy against which the pretext of cold war was manipulated to milk money out of American tax payers. Soviet Union was depicted as an evil force bent upon destroying the world with America playing the role of the savior trying to rid the world of the USSR menace.
After the defeat of Soviet Union, the ziocons needed an enemy to unleash their politics of fear against and to perpetuate the cause of oil /military corporate cartel. For this purpose, the Manhattan court tried Jamal Al Fadl, the former aide of Osama bin Laden, who exaggerated the strengths of different scattered Islamist Arab-Afghan groups. He did this because he allegedly took a huge amount of money from CIA and ziocons, besides he acted as a ‘Pardoned” witnessed on behalf of the American government which was vehemently influenced by the ziocons and the CIA’s Norco trafficker and hawkish hierarchy. This fact has been revealed by Sam Schmidt, the prosecutor against the run away Islamists who were to face charges of financial frauds and leaking secrets as well as international crimes of drug and ammunition trafficking.
CIA and Ziocons had a fear factor, too, because throughout the Afghan war, they were close allies of “would be” Islamist criminals who shared many secrets with the former, which, if made public, could bring a storm in the lives of ziocons by exposing their illegal activities before ordinary Americans. This was another reason to bring Jamal Al Fadl into court, but then the unusual happened. Sam discloses that during cross examination, Jamal lied many times, revealing false evidence and fabricated testimonies. He linked the activities of different groups as one coherent, organized and structured group which he called Al-Qaeda, on the behest of his Ziocon masters who bought him for false evidence.
The ziocons were after Osama because he had tremendous amount of information regarding the corporate irregularities of ziocons and CIA. But to try him in the court as head of mafia, they needed an organization which was invented by Jamal Al Fadl in Manhattan court room, known as Al-Qaeda. The real purpose was not to try Osama, but to create Al-Qaeda as a phantom enemy of America. This has been endorsed by Jason Burke, too. Former CIA operative and author of “Al-QAEDA” says the organization is a myth. In fact, there were scattered Islamist groups who were funded by Osama. These discrete independent units with unified Islamists ideology were given the name Al-Qaeda. Jamal Al Fadl had stolen plenty of money from Osama, and it was Americans who used him as a poodle, giving him shelter, money and all kinds of “fevours”. According to Jason, Al-Qaeda does not exist with a coherent structure and organizational capacity, and that 911 was not originated by Bin Laden or Zawahiri, but through inside means i.e. it was an inside job. The American intelligence agencies’ assertion that there are cells of terrorists in different cities of US like Buffalo, Portland, North Carolina etc., from where the terrorists can attack America anytime is a myth, Jason observes. Top CIA official Vincent Canistrraro, who remained head of counter terrorism section from 88 to 90, says neocons are complete liars when they paint Islamists with the same idea they employed for Soviets i.e. presenting them as a threat by exaggeration of their powers and capabilities. In fact, no organized network like Al-Qaeda exists.
One more myth which is fantasized in the Al-Qaeda chronicle is the possible use of dirty bomb by the Al-Qaeda operatives. Interestingly, many American nuclear scientists don’t agree with this and have totally rejected such a possibility. Even if such a possibility exists, according to them, the facts are different from what is perceived or propagated through the media. Dr.John Prados, Director, National Security Archives, says the claims made by so called Al-Qaeda operative Abu Zubaida to use dirty bomb are baseless and founded on either unestablished scientific grounds regarding the efficacy of such ‘Weapons’, or part of fear campaign run by the CIA. He further says the minimal amount of radiation released through so called Dirty Bomb cannot simply kill or even harm human beings. His views have been further proved by Dr.Theodore Rockwell, who is a nuclear scientist and radiation risk expert. He says such a bomb can’t harm humans to the degree of death, although imparting some damage to human body through radioactive dust, when used in very large amounts. The effects of such bombs have been tested in labs by the scientists and in the field by the US and Iraqis forces, showing little if any evidence of the devastation by such weapons.
It’s not the radiation, but panic arising as a result of a dirty bomb attack which could kill or result in serious consequences, says Lewis Z.Koch of Bulletin of Atomic Scientists in Washington. The government never tells people regarding the actual threat, because it does fit in with their actual objectives behind the invention of such myths. And this has been further proved by David Johnston, the intelligence specialist of New York Times.” The existence of Al-Qaeda is an imagination because, according to new rules of engagement, the power of imagination is something which counts, and the person with most wicked imagination becomes most powerful in this world.
The whole story of Al-Qaeda is a work of exaggeration and imagination. Skyrocketing taxes for security funding and politics of fear and intimidation to get maximum public backing for a phantom enemy have been the prime objectives of creating the myth of Al-Qaeda. There is terror all over the world. It’s just a new phenomenon that such terror has been linked to an organization and nobody can question its existence because it serves the interests of many in the world, says Bill Durondie, Director, International Center for Security Studies, at Kings College, UK.
Al-Qaeda, a phantom enemy and a terrorist organization based upon fantasy, has foundations based upon a paradigm of preemption and proactive approach. This perspective can’t be questioned because it is based upon future possibilities of terror attacks by any person or group which would be tagged as Al-Qaeda.
It is interesting to note here that people like Al Zawahiri and Osama have always supported the assumption and terror anticipations of CIA or Ziocons because whenever the ziocons point out any country or group as terrorist, the very next day, the supposed Al-Qaeda leaders release either a video or an audio tape in favour of that group to materialize the ziocons suspicions. The recent example is Zawahiri’s condemnation of Iran which blamed Israel for the 9/11 attacks, saying it was not Iran but Al-Qaeda behind the 9/11 attacks. That’s how Al-Qaeda supports Israel and Ziocons. Are Ziocons and Al-Qaeda two sides of the same coin?
